Ahoy losers

27/02/2008 7:52:31 AM
Sixty Mudgee women have set themselves a task of becoming the biggest losers in NSW.

No, they’re not underachievers. They are determined to win the battle of the bulge for their teams’ local bragging rights and to hopefully knock off the State’s larger gyms for NSW honours.

The ladies attend Curves gym in Mudgee.

They have divided themselves into 10 teams of six – The Pirates, The Silver Bullets, Yellow Fever, The Devils, Purple Polka Dot Bikinis, Pink Panthers, Blue Butterflies, the Soldiers, Power Rangers and Funky Chicks.

They are competing against each other to see which team can record the largest percentage of body weight loss. The overall gym results will then be compared to other Curves gyms across the state. The program will run for four weeks. Staff members are also taking part as they are in charge of each team.

Manager Sandra Benny said the combined group had so far lost 54 kilos in a week.

“That is good,” she said.

She added that the Pirates’ Tanya Lillyst and the Devils’ Jenny Single have set the bar by losing three kilos each.

“They’ve just got to lose as much weight as they can in a month,” Sandra said.

She said that she would love to see Mudgee Curves in the top winners for the whole of NSW as it is the smallest gym.

She relishes the chance to brag, but also the prizes, such as Sydney Harbor cruises.

Sandra has asked the general public to get behind the effort as well.

“If you see them (competitors) ordering or eating anything it had better be salads. And, there is no alcohol for a month. I’m tempted to Super Glue my girls’ mouths shut. I’ve gotta win this.”
