Construction underway for new HealthOne at Rylstone

21 Apr, 2008 09:10 AM
NSW Minister for Health Reba Meagher says she is pleased that construction was progressing on the State’s latest HealthOne NSW facility at Rylstone.

Ms Meagher said the health ‘one stop shop’ would bring together GPs with community health workers, allied health and other medical professionals employed by the NSW Government outside the hospital environment.

“I spoke recently in Parliament about the importance of HealthOnes, and I know that this facility at Rylstone will provide a first class facility for the community,” Ms Meagher said.

“The Iemma Government is investing $717,000 in this project to improve people’s access to health services in the community, which will improve early intervention and reduce avoidable hospital admissions.

Services include: GPs, pathology collection services, dental services, community and allied health

Local Member for Bathurst Gerard Martin said the HealthOne would be a major boost to the local community.

“The HealthOne NSW centre at Rylstone will be housed in an existing Health Service building which is being renovated and reconfigured to accommodate a variety of essential medical services,” Mr Martin said.

“Locals can expect to benefit from early diagnosis of conditions, disease prevention and co-ordinated management of chronic and complex conditions to keep people well and out of hospital.

Ms Meagher said Rylstone will be one of the first HealthOne facilities to be commissioned across the state, with the facility expected to be operating by August 2008.
