Dayna Wilson can dance.
The 14-year-old student has been accepted into the Brent Street Studios Performing Arts Curriculum for Years 10, 11 and 12, and is preparing to move to Sydney to start her studies.
Dayna said she was nervous but excited about her selection.
“It is hard at the moment to have dancing and school work at the same time, all encompassed into the same hours.
“At Brent Street Studios you do your schooling for half the day but it is still the same amount of work, you just do it through distance education and then you dance in the afternoon,” Dayna said.
Dayna was one of 15 students accepted into the school, after an intense audition process against another 150 hopeful students.
In Mudgee Dayna can be found at the Dance Unlimited studio four afternoons a week.
“I have been dancing since I was three years old, so for the past 11 years.”
“I love the expression you have through dancing and I love the improvement you can make,” Dayna said.
Through the school Dayna will have the opportunity to study a variety of styles including ballet, contemporary, hip-hop, jazz and musical theatre.
Dayna will move to Sydney when she finishes year nine at Mudgee High School, before starting year 10 at Brent Street Studios.
She will continue at the studios during year 11 and 12.
