Year 5 Gulgong Public School student, Nikki Jordan has won a national competition to design a new Bratz doll. Nikki, who is a Bratz doll fan, was surfing the net on the Bratz site when she noticed a button to enter the ‘Bratz fashion designer competition’, so Nikki pressed the ‘yes’ button. Inspired and encouraged by her mum and aunt to enter, Nikki entered her design and left her e-mail contact not thinking that her design would be successful.
The competition drew more than 25,000 entries from across Australia with the judging process run from Los Angeles. Nikki’s was included in the top 10 which were put to public vote and Nikki’s design won.
Nikki’s cool new Bratz doll design was a red and white polka dot dress, dark red hair, red shoes, white jacket and a tiara, whilst the eye shadow make-up is pink.
Nikki was also in charge of naming her uniquely designed Bratz doll, but at the moment she’s keeping a lid on what she’s decided until the doll is released.
The Bratz Doll Company is now busily manufacturing Nikki’s design for release in Australian stores by Feburary next year with Nikki’s name and photo included on the new doll’s packaging. Nikki feels honoured and proud to be the first Australian designer of a Bratz doll.
Nikki was also awarded $500 worth of Bratz products and will be sent 10Li of her very own limited edition’Nikki designed’ dolls.
