Priceless Plodders will again be making their way around the Relay for Life track this year, in the hope to raise $2000 towards the region’s goal.
Captain of the team Jacqui Price, said she participated in the event two years ago and found it to be an interesting and exhilarating challenge.
Ms Price said she wasn’t impressed with the non-existent relay last year and hoped this one would be better.
“I hope that this year Mudgee, which has so much to offer and which is backing the recession trend, will get off its collective butt and raise money and form teams for the cause. If the smaller towns can do it, Mudgee can,” Ms Price said.
Ms Price is also a member of the Rotary’s Mudgee CareWest Lodge fundraising committee.
“Having the promise of moneys from the event going towards the CareWest Lodge building is also a great incentive,” Ms Price said.
Remembering the relay in 2007, Ms Price said fun was the first thing that sprung to mind.
“It was cold at night but really fun. We made some new friends, there was a place to rest in the tent, a big pot of chilli and very impressive coffee,” Ms Price said.
The Priceless Plodders will again have a variety of facilities on offer for their team members.
Priceless Plodders has been registered online and anyone is welcome to join the team.
“The more the merrier,” Ms Price said.
“Though I am not an Aussie I hope I have caught the generous spirit they show when the need arises and the need for further research into cancer cures is always with us,” Ms Price said.
