Students choose to serve

10 Feb, 2012 08:36 AM
St Matthew’s Catholic students from Years 3-10 gathered in St Mary’s Church on Thursday for the school’s opening mass.

The special mass saw 2012 altar servers - both new and existing – and Eucharistic Ministers commissioned into their roles.

St Matthew’s principal Rose-Marie van Raad said junior altar servers are important positions of service in the parish and school.

The position is for any Year 4, 5 or 6 student who would like to work with others and provide a service to the school and parish. Senior altar servers are for students in Year 7 and above.

This year four Year 10 students have been chosen to serve as Ministers of the Eucharist.

Mrs van Raad said it was wonderful to see students volunteer to be altar servers for the school and parish in 2012.

“This is testimony to the good will of our students to be of service to others,” she said.
