Wind havoc at Kandos

06 Feb, 2012 08:17 AM
Windy weather on Thursday led to a blackout of the centre of Kandos as local agencies worked to remove a tree that had fallen on a power line in Angus Avenue.

The tree was blown over at about 5.40pm, and police and firefighters closed the street while Integral Energy turned off power in the area.

The Rural Fire Service was called in to cut up the tree, and Mid-Western Regional Council was contacted to help with its removal.

It was the second tree to come down in Thursday’s wind, with the other falling in Running Stream and not causing a traffic obstruction.

Police also reported a few minor car accidents.
