Ever wanted to lock up your boss for a few hours? Have them thrown in jail only to have to buy their way out?
Well yesterday you could.
Bosses from businesses around Mudgee were locked up yesterday, with a mock cell set up outside Woolworths, to raise funds for the PCYC.
They were sentenced and thrown in the cell with a mobile phone, forced to raise $500 (or in some cases more) to get themselves out.
First in the cell on Friday morning were Brad Cam from Mid-Western Regional Council and Mark Macmurray from Harvey Norman.
Mr Cam was sentenced for deception and fraud for taking ratepayers money and telling the bosses he was working when it was clear he was not.
Mr Macmurray was sentenced for misleading advertising in business.
Both were asked to raise the $500 before they were let out.
Police also picked up Cass McDonald from McDonalds Bakery.
“I was quite surprised and really confused but I am quite happy to help out the PCYC for such a great cause,” Ms McDonald said from her cell yesterday.
“The girls came into the office yesterday morning and said the police were here to get me. The police handed me a letter and I thought I would lock up mum and dad ‘cause they are my bosses but the police said no, it was me being locked up,” Ms McDonald said.
Ms McDonald was locked up for not putting enough sausage in the sausage rolls.
Also in the cell with her was Club Mudgee manager Owen Hughes who was jailed for watering down the beer.
PCYC representatives said they hoped to raise around $10,000 during the day.
Also jailed throughout the day were Brett Thompson from the Court House Hotel, Hugh Bateman from The Property Shop, Mark Young from Mudgee Public School, Sean Cleary
from Wilpinjong Mines and
Des Kennedy from the
Oriental Hotel.
