Coleman’s hat-trick highlights latest round of Twenty20 cricket

After round three was washed out, hot and sticky conditions greeted the players for round four of the Sportspower under-17s Twenty20 cricket competition.

On the pacey Gabba 3 deck Oriental Bistro took on the Orchard Nursery.

Batting first, Orchard Nursery made 109 runs with youngster Ryan Kurtz making 24 runs, Tavis Young next best with 22, Aiden Young 21 and Nat Young 19.

For the Ori boys Blake Coleman bowled an amazing two overs and took five wickets for one run, including a hat-trick.

Josh Cookson, Linc Suttor and Daniel Judge all took a wicket each.

In reply Oriental made 93 runs before running out of overs.

Linc Suttor top scored with 18 not out, Max Wheatley 16, while Jesse Henry and Daniel Judge made 11 runs each.

For the Orchard Nursery bowling, Blake Gorrie and Stuart Fredericks took two wickets each.

Ryan Kurtz, Brad Petrie, Tavis Young and Harry Ottley all took one wicket each.

Over on the Gabba 2 pitch, Ross Granata Motors took on Group One Pest Services and batting first Ross Granata Motors recovered from 5-24 to make 57.

Troy Kenny was the only batsman to reach double figures making 18.

For the Pesties, line and length bowling saw Nathan Drewe capture three wickets, Nathan Sharpe two and Blake Pilley one.

In reply the Pesties easily reached the target with Hayden Cox top scoring with 28.

Cameron Cox (15) and Hayden got the Pesties off to a good start.

For Ross Granata, Jarryd Barlow did well taking two wickets and Josh Loveday the only other wicket taker.

Competition table after the four rounds: Orchard Nursery 22, Group One Pest Services 22, Ross Granata Motors 22 and Oriental Bistro 14.
