Mitchell will begin its Junior Inter-Council representative season this Sunday when the four sides take on Lachlan.
All four games against Lachlan will be played in Orange with the Under 14s and Under 16s playing at Jack Brabham, the Under 12s at Riawena Oval and the Girls at Glenroi Oval.
Players from Mudgee and Gulgong feature in the Mitchell sides.
Lachlan are going to be competitive especially in the under 12s boys and 14s.
Those two teams won their games last week against Macquarie and will want to maintain their winning streak on Sunday.
Gulgong’s Nathan Lane (under 12s boys), and Mudgee duo Stuart Fredericks and Max Wheatley (under 14s boys) are the ones hoping to spoil Lachlan’s party.
The girls match should be a cracker with both teams picking strong teams.
Gulgong’s country representative Rebecca Bailey is join by Mudgee’s Shona Young and Jessica Edwards in the team.
The side is coached by Mudgee’s Dot Sheehan and she says her girls must make early breakthroughs with the ball so Lachlan are on the back foot early.
“We need to keep the pressure on them because they have players like Pip Taylor and Emily Aberline who are very good players,” Sheehan said.
The under 16s will feature two Mudgee players who are in superb form.
Troy Kenny and Cameron Cox have been praised by many throughout the first part of the season.
Kenny has been making big runs, which includes a century in Gulgong cricket and a fifty for Mudgee High School.
While Cox has been described by his Woolpack Hotel first grade captain Steven Knight as one of the greatest prospects to come out of the region.
