CRICKET
Mudgee cricketers are hoping the big man upstairs will hold off with the rain for the weekend so the players can get play some cricket.
Mudgee first grade hasn't played for two weeks because of rain.
Lawson Park Hotel takes on Paragon Hotel at Cahill Park while Federal Hotel meet Oriental Hotel.
The last time Lawson Park and Paragon met, Paragon won on a better run rate despite needing more than 100 runs to win with a wicket in hand when rain forced players from the field.
A win for either side on Saturday would boost their semi-finals hopes.
"It's definitely crunch time," Lawson Park Hotel co-captain Jacob Edmonds said.
"You need to start winning some games."
Lawson Park have a dreadful record against Paragon this season.
Paragon have won the last three matches.
"You never know what you are going to get with Paragon," Edmonds said.
"To their credit they are a good side but on paper they don't look too strong.
"But they are an up and down team.
"I would prefer to play the other two teams instead of Paragon."
Paragon captain Jeremy Doherty knows the importance of this match.
"We have a pretty good record against them. Although we should not have won last time," Doherty said.
Craig Mitchell comes back into the side after returning from overseas.
"He is a solid batter, which is what we need," Doherty said.
Oriental and Federal are at Victoria Park.
"We have got plenty of players who score runs but not that person who is solid. Lingy [Andrew Ling] is the only one I would say is solid."
Oriental could extend their lead at the top of the table with a win against Federal at Victoria Park.
