A combined 54 millimetres of rain on Friday and Saturday meant there was no chance of any cricket being played in Mudgee for either first or reserve grade.
According to website weatherzone.com.au, only eight and a half millimetres fell on Friday at the airport but realistically this was probably already enough to call all games off.
However in the early hours of Saturday morning the majority of a 46 millimetre drenching occurred and put any play on Mudgee’s pitches out of the question.
At the number one cricket ground, Victoria Park was the sight of a pitch drowned in puddles as rain pilfered any chance of Lawson Park Hotel scoring their first win of the season or Woolpack Hotel slotting into second place on the first grade ladder.
It was a similar picture at Cahill Park where competition heavyweights Oriental Hotel and Paragon Hotel were due to clash to vie for the competition lead.
But Mudgee town was not the only place in the Mid-West to cop a significant down pour as some places reported falls of over 90 millimetres.
And if you thought Victoria Park looked wet, Walkers Oval was in no better shape for the Reserve Grade clash between Woolpack Hotel and Court House Hotel.
Cricketers have been blessed for most of their season as this was the second time Mudgee District Cricket had been a complete washout for 2009/10.
The first washout came in the fifth round on Novmeber 7 last year.
