Mudgee under 14s will be without their stars batsman Aiden Woods for Sunday's preliminary final against Bathurst at Morse Park.
The first round century maker is unavailable to play, which is a big loss for Greg Parker's team.
Woods' ability to score quick runs and his partnership with Nathan Lane at the top of the order have been valuable assets for Mudgee this summer.
However, Mudgee must do without their big hitter against their more fancied rivals.
But coach Greg Parker was confident his boys could do the job.
"We get him [Woods] back for the grand final," Parker laughed.
Chris Tomasella has been named as Woods’ replacement.
Parker said he would be relying on Lane and captain Tom Lawson to get his team off to a good start with the bat.
But it's the team's wayward bowling that has the coach worried.
In the elimination semi-final against Lithgow at fortnight ago, Mudgee bowled 37 sundries including 27 wides.
"It has been our big problem all season," Parker said.
"We just need to concentrate on our line and length because it can cost us."
Jacob Rohr is Mudgee's strike weapon with the ball.
The tall medium pacer has been improving each week with his bowling.
"He is still learning his craft.
"But our wicket takers have been Callan Double and Lachlan Henry. They've been bowling well all season."
Mudgee's under 16s take on Orange at Orange.
Mudgee are still having nightmares after Orange bowled them out for 40 in the preliminary rounds.
Orange will be tough to beat but Mudgee can cause a few headaches when they are on song.
