Mudgee division one pennants captain Matt Consadine put out a SOS and his call was answered by one of Mudgee's best players - Andrew Best.
Best will line-up for the division one side in their second round pennants match against Dubbo on Sunday.
Making their return to the division last week after spending three years in the wilderness, Mudgee were beaten 4-1 by the defeating champions Bathurst.
Mudgee did not have the services of John Osborn and last week winner Josh Campbell for Sunday's match in Dubbo, which was why Consadine called for more enforcements.
"Playing Dubbo in Dubbo will be tougher [than the first round match]," Consadine said.
"We are without John and Josh but we've got Rowan Rowlands and I put in a special call to my mate Andy Best."
The two-time A-grade club champion and Mudgee Open winner is in red-hot form.
His handicap is plus four and last weekend he took out the 2012 Lakes medal at the Lakes Golf Club in Sydney by two strokes.
"He [Best] will be a big plus for us," Consadine said.
"He is a phenomenal golfer but The Australian [Best's Sydney club] just won't pick him [in their pennants team].
"He said he has committed to us for the rest of the time."
Consadine believes his team can score the win on Sunday.
"I'm pretty sure we can bounce back. Rowan is a good match play player."
Consadine was impressed with the way Matt Hicks performed on his debut and how David Pearce fought to the end of his match.
Dubbo will be keen to win on their home turf especially after they were beaten 3-2 by Wentworth.
In other division one matches, Wellington take on Wentworth and Bathurst meet Forbes.
Mudgee will be looking to score wins in the three other divisions.
All three had 4-1 loss to their respective sides.
Division two will take on Wellington at Bathurst, division three travel to Wentworth at Orange to play Wellington as well and division four is at home to Bathurst.
Bathurst completely dominated their opening round match, defeating Wentworth 5-0.
But on their home course, the Mudgee side led by Trevor Crosby could be hard to beat.
