Magic Millions fever looks set to grip well known local businessman and Mudgee Race Club treasurer Glen Lawrence this Saturday.
Lawrence is named in the racebook as the manager of the syndicate that owns Koblenz that is trained by Garry Portelli and is to be ridden by Corey Brown.
Koblenz has had two starts in his career to date and has been placed on both occasions.
In his first start Koblenz ran second to Cortina Girl at Wyong then on Boxing Day he ran third to the Gai Waterhouse trained Shadow Assassin, who will carry the number one saddlecloth in Saturday’s feature race.
However, Koblenz had little luck when he drew barrier 18 and will need plenty of luck from that alley if he is to figure in the finish.
Lawrence was unable to be contacted at his Mudgee office yesterday when the Mudgee Guardian was told the he was on holidays and would not be at the Mudgee meeting on Saturday.
The receptionist said that Lawrence would be at the Gold Coast races instead and was hoping to have cause to celebrate after the race.
Koblenz, by former top juvenile Charge Forward from Halo Dehere, was purchased at the Magic Millions in January last year.
