The dirt is on the track, the grandstands are ready and the lights have been put up, all that’s required are the riders and the inaugural Mudgee and Districts Motorcycle Club day-night Stadium X will begin.
Close to 200 riders, from juniors to seniors, will compete at MDMC’s AREC track tomorrow (Saturday) afternoon and night.
It is the first time a Motocross day-night event will be held in the Central West.
The motocross club have been preparing for the day-night Stadium X since the beginning of the year and MDMC president Jef Dray says everything is ready.
“Everything is great. Everything is in. The track looks fantastic, the seating is up and ready and the lights are in place,” he said.
“We’ve added sand on the track so it breaks up the mud.”
The event will see a host of local riders race against riders from around the region and the state.
“From the junior races to the seniors, it’s going to be non-stop,” Dray said.
The sports big names are in town for the event. Orange rider Brodie Hartin and Sydney racers Kody and Dale Wheeler have confirmed their attendance.
“Brodie and Kody are both former junior national champions, so it’s going to be great seeing them out on the track,” Dray said.
There will be multiple races from several different class divisions raced on Saturday but the main event will be the shootout at the end of the night.
The shootout will pit the top 20 riders on the Stadium X leader board against each other in a race of survival.
Riders will compete in multiple races and the riders that come in the final two are out.
This pattern continues until there are a few riders left and they then compete to decide the winner.
Dray says the one thing he is looking forward to most is seeing local riders compete.
“I want to show what Mudgee can do... We’ve got plenty of talented local riders on display.
“People can come out, bring their eskies and watch some really good racing,” Dray said.
