Bashers’ visit

7/10/2008 2:53:00 PM
More than 600 car enthusiasts from across Queensland visited Binnaway and Mudgee yesterday as they hit the road for the 2008 XXXX Gold Queensland Variety Bash to raise funds for sick, disabled and disadvantaged children.

From October 3-12 entrants will make their way from Toowoomba QLD to Bathurst NSW and along the way Variety Queensland will present much needed goods, services and community projects to children in need.

The 2008 XXXX Gold Queensland Variety Bash is set to be the largest event in its 19 year history with 215 pre-1978 cars in the convoy decked out in themes including Shrek, Pirates, The Godfather, T’Birds, Princess Barbie Coach and the Rocky Bull.

Funds raised from the bash will enable Variety Queensland to help improve the lives of sick, disabled and disadvantaged children through the provision of mobility and educational equipment for individual children, Sunshine Coaches and Liberty Swings for communities, special adventures and exciting events.

Since 1990 Variety Queensland has raised $13 million for Queensland children through the event and in 2007 granted $2.7 million to help more than 6,000 special needs children gain independence, aid learning and a better quality of life through wheelchairs, laptop computers and educational equipment.
