Fresh from his stint playing for NSW at the 31st Australian Youth Darts Championships in Tasmania, Gulgong's Billy Egan won the Mudgee Darts Association's open singles night last Wednesday.
The talented teenager defeated Dean Peterson 2 legs to 1 in a close fought final.
It is Egan’s first win of the 2012 season and it's most likely will not be his last.
Egan competed for NSW at the national titles a few weeks ago and had mixed results.
He made the quarter-finals of the singles competition after finishing second in his group.
He came up against Victorian Harley Kemp in the quarter-finals but went down.
Kemp went on to the final where he was beaten by Western Australia's Tyson Hoefel.
In the boys doubles, Egan and his playing partner Joshua Townsend missed out on qualifying for the quarter-finals on a countback.
They were pipped for second by Victorian pair Kemp and Matthew Francois.
Kemp and Francois went on to win the doubles pairs national title.
In the mystery mixed doubles, Egan teamed up with Western Australia competitor Sammara Jones.
Unfortunately they were beaten by Andy Warren from South Australia and Rebecca Penny from Western Australia.
Egan threw three 180s as NSW finished sixth in the championships.
But back in Mudgee, Egan was too good for the competition.
