George Nicholson had a successful Saturday’s shooting at the Mudgee Pistol Club last weekend, finishing with a total win in both service events.

Starting the day with 25 yard service, Nicholson took a commanding lead from Malcolm Harris to win the day with a neat 570 from Harris on 554 leaving the other competitors well behind in the 400s. Darren McMurtrie took the handicap honours with a 643.

Moving to the long range and service unrestricted, Nicholson again showed he was the master of this event and finished well in front of the other competitors, who were plagued with various technical problems. Nicholson finished with a great final score of 826, again leading Malcolm Harris who finished on 740 again leaving the rest of the field well under the 700 mark.

The rimfire match of the day was standard pistol and Ray George was the winner for the day, finishing with a nett total of 584 from John Puxty on 536 and in third place, top shooting lady for the day, Mia Tsoupis finishing with 530.

A large field of juniors saw a win by Josh Harris with a nett 580 from Jacob Martin on 521 and Jim Peach on a neat 500. Junior air pistol gave a very close win to Aiden Young with an off gun score of 261 from brother, Tavis Young who finished on 257 with Jacob Martin in third place on 139.

Ladies air pistol gave another win to Mia Tsoupis who finished with 326 from Kim Peach on 264.

Next Saturday will be a rest day for club members with the range open from 2pm for practice and signing in.

Sunday, members will travel to the Windamere ranges to participate in a muzzle loading shoot with their sister club Mudgee Muzzle Loaders and the SSAA. Shooting will get underway from 10.30am
