Green tempted to tell Choc: Let's dance

COULD former world boxing champion Danny Green foxtrot his way from the dance floor to a rematch with his arch rival Anthony Mundine?

Green, a contestant on Channel Seven's Dancing With The Stars , confirmed the adrenalin rush he received before his first dance last Sunday night had put him in the frame of mind to box.

"I really questioned my decision to retire the most the night before the show because the nerves, the excitement and the adrenalin took me back [to fighting]," Green told The Sun-Herald .

"I even said to Paul Licuria [former Collingwood AFL star and contestant] that it made me want to don the gloves again because I realised I missed the fanfare, the media hype and the circus that goes along with it.

"In the change room before the dance everyone was practising their moves but I found myself shadow boxing as if I was going to fight.

"It was like a fight in that I'd prepared, I'd done the hard work and switched on to deal with the crowd and the atmosphere and the thrill and the nerves."

By pure coincidence, Green ran into Mundine in Melbourne the night before he strutted his stuff for the television audience. The meeting ended with Green advising his nemesis to "stay sharp".

"I was driving through Melbourne in a taxi and saw him - ironically on Exhibition Street - with a few people and I had the cabbie double back," he said.

"We spoke, it was all very quick, and I said to stay sharp. It was all fairly polite. My parting shot was I could always sting like a bee but can now dance like a butterfly."

Green would stand to make an estimated $5 million if he does pull the gloves back on.

"I am only human, it is difficult to resist that kind of money - very difficult," he said. "But it isn't only the money that is hard to resist, there's the challenge because he beat me and there is the challenge to climb back and seek redemption and square the ledger. At the moment, though, I am sticking by my decision to retire, but … who knows?"
