Around 250 caravan and RVs are expected to attend the Australian Caravan Club’s annual rally at the Australian Rural Education Centre (AREC) in Mudgee from October 14 to 20.
The national muster will include seminars on RV-related topics, social activities, outings to local tourist attractions and the club’s annual general meeting on October 19.
ACC national rally organising team member Deborah Cohen said when choosing the site for the rally, the club had looked for a small-to- medium sized town with plenty of activities and attractions for members to enjoy.
“Everybody in Mudgee has opened their arms to us – from the council, Mudgee Regional Tourism Inc, shops and AREC,” she said. “It has been amazing”.
Ms Cohen said the ACC was eager to involve the community in rally events, which will include a Wine, Food & Craft Market featuring stalls by ACC members as well as local stallholders.
Groups already involved in the weekend include the 1st Mudgee Group Scouts, who will hold a car wash, the Mudgee Men’s Shed, and Mudgee Rotary, which will conduct a Bingo Night.
Other activities planned include visits to the Mudgee Observatory, craft workshops, a tag-along car rally to Lue and Rylstone, a golf competition at Mudgee Golf Course, Tai Chi classes, a photography workshop, twilight bowls at Mudgee Bowls Club, outdoor movie night and the “Old Farts Olympics”.
The ACC has around 2500 members across Australia.
Membership is open to anyone who owns an RV, caravan, fifth wheeler, campervan or motorhome.
The national muster is a chance for members to get together to strive to improve RV facilities Australia-wide and discuss RV related issues, as well as catching up with old friends and contributing to the local economy.
