The Killing Field star Rebecca Gibney, with a crew of around 45 people, shot scenes for the telemovie in Gulgong’s main street and other locations over six days.
Bill Hughes, one of three producers for The Killing Field (along with Rebecca Gibney and Sarah Smith, said the people and businesses of Gulgong had been very co-operative to the visiting movie makers.
“On one night, we asked the business owners to leave their lights on so we could shoot through the night and they all did,” he said.
In The Killing Field, Rebecca Gibney plays the head of a task force who is called on to investigate a shocking crime in a rural town.
Mr Hughes said the production company looked at a number of country towns with wide streets, but was attracted to Gulgong because of its narrow, winding streets.
Gulgong was suggested by scriptwriter Michaeley O’Brien, who lives in the town.
“Photographically, it’s just beautiful,” Mr Hughes said. “We’re so happy we chose Gulgong.”
Mr Hughes said the team booked out all available accommodation in Gulgong during the shoot.
