The group is responsible for the many delicious stalls that pop-up up in the grounds of St Mary’s Catholic Church once a month.

Farmers Markets Manager Liz Mayberry said the main aim of the group was right up the market’s alley - supporting and promoting food producers within the local region.

The latest offering from Mudgee Fine Foods showcased more than 30 local producers, growers and makers at the first ever Local Lunch event. 

“Everything, and I mean 98.8 per cent of the food diners feasted on at the local Lunch was grown, produced and made with love within the Mudgee region by local producers,” Mudgee Fine Food President Simon Staines said. 

Ms Mayberry said Mudgee Fine Foods was all about helping local producers make connections with others in the industry and with those who would be interested in buying their product as well as getting the business and their products out their to the public. 

“We run the Farmers Markets once a month, the Makers Markets twice a year and then we also run other events throughout the region, including the Local Plate competition that we ran last year,” Ms Mayberry said. 

Most of the committee members are producers themselves, growing either food for themselves and their families, or part of larger organisations like the Mudgee Corner Store, Martins Hill Winery or Mudgee Sourdough. 

Mudgee Fine Food has around 80 members and is open to any chef, café, restaurant, producer or farmer who would like to join.
