The award recognises members’ efforts to promote the written word since the group’s formation in 1986.
The Mudgee Valley Writers Group meets months for lunch and discussion, followed by readings of members’ stories or poems on a pre-set monthly theme.
“We promote our group and creative writing with available outlets promoting the arts.”
The group also hosts and judges a biennial national competition for adults, novice writers and children, and produces an anthology of winning entries.
The Mudgee Valley Writers Group also publishes anthologies of members’ writings and encourages members’ individual book launches.
“We encourage members to think of and try fun and creative writing ideas at the meetings,” member Jill Baggett said.
“We promote our group and creative writing with available outlets promoting the arts.”

The Mudgee Valley Writers Group always welcome new members, whether experienced writers or not.
The Seniors Award is presented by Mid-Western Regional Council during Seniors Week to recognise the outstanding efforts and contribution of seniors.
