Under 9s
Being the last game before school holidays, a few players were absent yet a great game was had by all on the weekend.
With smaller teams than usual, the boys soldiered on. This saw a lot of line breaks and tries scored in the game. All players enjoyed time with the ball and the newly registered players are gaining more confidence. Coach’s award went to Bryson Jones for strong running and tackling.
The under 9s will break now for the holidays and will return for training on May 2, before the Eglinton Carnival on May 3.
Under 8s
Despite wet conditions the Mudgee Dragons under 8s played a solid game of football on Saturday.
All players put in a tremendous effort on the day with some slick tries being scored by new comers Logan Huia and Shannae Woods.
Not all the attacking raids were successful due to the outstanding defence of Kandos/Rylstone recruit Cooper Devin and the ever reliable pair of Jacob Stoddart and Will Stott. Jack Nicholas had a solid all-round game and the most improved player on the day was Dustin Riley who showed a lot of enthusiasm.
Under 7s
Numbers at training on Friday were exceptional considering the rain.
Saturday saw a warmer day which tested the early season fitness of the boys but once again all displayed skills above expectation for this time of year.
Billy Cruden’ s dive over the try line and Cody Hanrahan’s run to the try line brought the crowd alive. Cooper Ellery and Jack Colley’s defence was outstanding making several critical tackles throughout the game. Performance by all boys is looking good going into the Eglinton Carnival.
