The Mudgee Local Area Command have said that Easter was a quiet four days for local officers.
Towards the end of the break there was a car accident, during which the vehicle rolled over, on the Ulan Road at Turill on Monday.
Personnel from the Police, Rural Fire Service, and Volunteer Rescue Association, and Ambulance NSW attended but no one was injured in the accident.
State-wide police conducted more than 59,000 breath tests, with 58 drivers charged, as of day four of Operation Tortoise.
NSW Police Traffic and Highway Patrol Commander, Assistant Commissioner John Hartley said it’s disappointing that some people continue to be caught drink-driving despite consistent warnings from police.
“If you’re going out to have a drink you need to find another way home, driving is simply not an option,” he said.
“Drivers need to be aware that RBTs can happen anywhere, at anytime, so if you choose to drink and drive, you will be caught.”
Motorists have also been reminded that double demerits will be in force again this long weekend for speeding, seatbelt, and motorcycle helmet offences.
Operation ‘Go Slow’ starts at 12.01am on Thursday, April 24, and continues until 11.59pm on Sunday, April 27, 2014.
