The award-winning park hosted its fourth annual wine, food and art fair, celebrating everything Mudgee over two days.
Festival organiser Mike O’Malley said yesterday that the weekend was again “an outstanding success”.
“The word is really getting out there now about this event. It is one of those ‘to do’ things on Sydney’s event calendar,” Mr O’Malley said.
“This morning I’ve been talking to some of the cellar doors and their feedback had been positive with sales good on the day plus orders as well.”
“This is not just about the wine, it is about promoting the Mudgee region’s great food and art too.”
Sydney Lord Mayor Clover Moore officially opened the Festival on Saturday morning and toured Pirrama Park, tasting wine and observing the sculpture garden.
“I know she bought a couple of sculptures last year and there was interest again at the weekend,” Mr O’Malley said.
The Pyrmont Festival gained attention on social media websites such as Twitter and Instagram with the overwhelming response being positive.
See Taste Do and KPMG Director, Jenny Wong, tweeted a few of her favourite items including the Lomondo aged caramelised balsamic vinegar, a 2009 de Beaurepaire Shiraz Viognier and lavender popping candy macaroons paired with honeycomb ice cream.
The Sydney Connection’s Maree Sheehan tweeted from Huntington Estate’s tent and took a photo of paella being prepared among a variety of food on offer.
Some Sydney residents also tweeted their option to attend Pirrama Park after competing in The Sydney Morning Herald half-marathon on Sunday.
Mr O’Malley said the integration as a region had to be reinforced with several Mudgee bodies coming together to work as one.
“We again had great feedback from the Pyrmont-Ultimo Chamber of Commerce and it was great to see that we had made the right decision last year to sign on at Pyrmont this year and the next two,” he said.

Alongside sampling more than 150 wines and fine foods, the weekend’s events included the presentation of the annual Pyrmont Art Prize.
The Festival continues until May 26.
