After rescheduling the excursion once due to cloudy weather, the group enjoyed a perfect clear sky on Tuesday, ideal for capturing the night sky and viewing interstellar objects including star clusters and the planet Saturn.
“It was really good for us, because it’s completely dark out there so the stars are really bright,” said Camera Club president Amber Hooper.
As well as taking long exposure images of the starry sky, photographers using Canon equipment were able to fix their cameras to the observatory’s telescope to take photos through its lens.
The Cudgegong Camera Club meets upstairs at Club Mudgee at 7pm on the first Tuesday of the month, and regularly embarks on photographic field trips.
