Dion Pevy, 24, of Algona Street, Dubbo, was charged with ‘Assault occasioning actual bodily harm (Domestic Violence)’, ‘Common assault (DV)’, and ‘Stalk/intimidate intend fear physical etc harm (domestic)’.
On Saturday, July 12, 2014, Pevy and his partner were travelling home from Sydney when they started to run low on petrol in Mudgee.
They stopped at the Caltex Service Station when an argument erupted.
Pevy, the driver at the time, then drove the car across the road to the Target car park.
The victim attempted to exit the car but Pevy held her in, he then got out of the vehicle and the victim locked him out.
He began kicking the car so the victim unlocked it again, Pevy returned to the car and the victim attempted to exit through the back door but the child lock was on.
Pevy grabbed her by the hair and pulled her back into the front area of the car where he punched her a number of times to her face and head.
The victim got away and began running down Church Street and Pevy followed her.
The police, who’d been called about a man assaulting a woman, arrived to find Pevy yelling.
They found the victim shortly afterwards. She was distraught, had blood on her lip and said that Pevy had hit her.
