The only way is up for the Mudgee Wombats.
A week after hitting rock bottom courtesy of their 118-5 defeat to Orange City, things can’t get much worse for the competition’s cellar dwellers.
For the remaining four weeks of the competition, a clearly frustrated Wombats coach Justin Sutherland wants his team to leave nothing on the field as they look to rebuild for the 2015 Blowes Clothing Cup season.
“We want to be competitive in all of our [final] matches,” a fired-up Sutherland said
“Lets be honest, it’s unlikely we are going to beat [Bathurst] Bulldogs, [Orange] Emus and Dubbo Roos but it doesn’t mean we can’t be competitive.
“If I could have the side we had a few weeks back [for Narromine] then we would be in with a show.
“We will try and get over with a win against Parkes [in round 17].”
The step up from Central West Rugby Union’s second tier competition to the Blowes Cup has been a difficult one, and one Sutherland expected.

But he didn’t think all the sides would be as even as they have been.
“They are all strong sides,” he said.
His statement is backed up by the competition’s points table.
The top three sides are separated by four points while five other teams are in contention for the final two semi-finals spots.
The Bulldogs are one of those five teams in contention and the Bathurst club will see their match on Saturday against Mudgee as a must win.
“Bulldogs have their own strengths. They have three grades where they can call on players so it’s going to be another case of us putting our best foot forward and hope for the best.”
Sutherland said his team spoke about last weekend’s embarrassing loss to Orange City.
“You can’t get upset at the blokes,” he said.
“They trained hard on Tuesday and we will take our best side over there but we won’t know until after training [last night].”
Second grade will have their second tough encounter in a week when they play the second-placed Bulldogs.
However, a win for Mudgee’s colts side could all but cement their top five spot.
Tim Burgess’ boys slipped to third following their loss to Orange City last week but they could leapfrog Bathurst into second position with a bonus point win on Saturday.
Matches kick-off from 12.45pm with first grade at 3.15pm.
