Bowlers from the four regions of the central west will compete in singles, pairs, triples, fours and senior fours.
Central Tablelands, which includes Mudgee, Gulgong, Rylstone and surrounding areas, will go up against bowlers from Canobolas District (Orange region), Central Western District (Cowra region) and Mid-Western District (Dubbo region).
The winners of each division will progress their way through to the state championships to be held later in the year.
There is plenty of local interest with bowlers from Mudgee, Gulgong and Rylstone representing Central Tablelands.
Gulgong sensation Colleen Ryan will compete in the singles on Tuesday, hoping to progress to Wednesday’s final.
She will go up against Central Western champion Ruth Quinn from Forbes in the semi-final.
The winner of that match will play either Tilly Williams from Newstead Bowling Club in Orange or Dubbo City’s Annette McMillan.
Mudgee’s Barbara Sampson and Ruxie Birchall will represent Central Tablelands in the pairs on Wednesday, hoping to make Thursday’s final.
The two bowlers take on Cowra’s Ivy and Ruby Fogg with the winners to meet either McMillan and Merrill O’Sullivan from Dubbo City or Judith Adams and Veronica Garside from Blayney.
Gulgong trio Debbie Buckley, Nicole Henry and Teri Gorrie will be the ones to watch in the triples competition.
They play Blayney’s Adams, Garside and Margo Lees in the first match on Tuesday, hoping to qualify for a final showdown against Beverley Goss, Tracey Silk, Margaret Chaseling from West Dubbo City or Canowindra’s Heather Hoad, Nancy Morrow and Sandy McDonald.
Wendy Williams will skip the Rylstone quartet of herself, Bonnie Farrell, Anne Milton and Phyllis Grimshaw in today’s match against Manildra Bowling Club’s Dianne Fliedner, Karen Rodwell, Maralyn Shean and Alison Shean.
Winners will take on Cowra quartet Nada Kurta, Jane Keirnicki, Robyn Oliver and Jullian Turnbull or Dubbo City’s Geraldine Jasprizza, Pamela Kilfoyle, Shirley Hazleton and Laurace Lawson.
In the senior fours, Maureen Knight will lead the charge of Mudgee women as she is joined in the team by Colleen Condon, Eileen Falk and Narelle Pye in the competition.
They will play Canowindra’s Heather Hoad, Marion Wilson, Nancy Morrow and Sandy McDonald today.
