Movie lovers and book lovers alike will share seats on Friday, Saturday and Sunday when the adaptation of John Green’s The Fault in Our Stars is brought to the big screen.
Taking it’s name form Act 1, Scene 2 of Shakespeare’s Julius Caesar, The Fault in Our Stars tells the story of Hazel and Gus, two teenagers who share an acerbic wit and a disdain for the conventional. Their relationship is made all the more miraculous given that Hazel’s other constant companion is an oxygen tank, Gus jokes about his prosthetic leg, and they met and fell in love at a cancer support group. The movie was adapted from John Green’s sixth novel and was first published in 2012, and is sure to draw both lovers of the book and those looking for a movie that tells a story that goes beyond the normal boy-girl meet and fall in love stereotype.
While there may be a few tears during The Fault in Our Stars, there’ll be cheering and roaring during the other movie of the double-feature – How to Train Your Dragon 2. The sequel to the much-loved How to Train Your Dragon, the movie roars onto the screen with the continuing adventures of Hiccup the Viking and his dragon sidekick Toothless.
HTTYD2 stars the voices of Jay Baruchel, Gerard Butler, Criag Ferguson, America Ferrera, Kristen Wiig, Cate Blanchett and Kit Harrington as vikings, dragons and bad guys alike. The film takes place five years after the first and features Hiccup and his friends as young adults.
Children, young adults and adults of all ages will be able to watch as Hiccup and Toothless discover an ice cave that is home to hundreds of new, wild dragons, a mysterious Dragon Rider, and a battle to protect the peace that the citizens of Berk have found.
The Fault in Our Stars will screen on Friday, August 1, at 7pm, on Saturday, August 2 at 4.30pm and 7pm, and on Sunday, August 3, at 4.30pm. How to Train Your Dragon 2 will be showing on Saturday, August 2, at 11am and 2pm and on Sunday, August 3, at 11am and 2pm.
Tickets are available at Council offices in Mudgee, Gulgong and Rylstone during opening hours or at the door on the night if not sold out prior.
