Schools - perhaps through sheer weight in numbers – manage to get the most number of people dressed in denim for the first Friday in August.
Since the first Jeans For Genes Day was held, and prior to Friday, students alone had raised over $14 million.
All by bringing a gold coin donation to get a break from part of the school uniform for a day.
The day is to raise money and awareness for the Children’s Medical Research Institute, which helps to find cures and treatments for childhood disease.
Over 1,650,000 students from across Australia were tipped to take part in Jeans For Genes Day.
Mudgee Public School will have their opportunity to add to the national kitty this Friday when they have their day.
