Returning to the Central West competition after a 12-month break the Black Swans have recurited new members as well as seen some old heads return to have a kick with their mates.
On Saturday the Black Swans played their final game for the season at Victoria Park but it was also the final game for one of their more seasoned players.
Mudgee ruckman Dan Watters decided to retire from the game. He, like many in the Black Swans outfit, plays for the enjoyment.
“I think I’ve been playing on and off with the Black Swans for about seven years. I started playing in my 30s just to make up the numbers,” he said.
“Being tall they liked to play me in the ruck.
“I’m 41 now and the body is taking longer to heal.”
Watters said he enjoyed coming back in to the fold after the 12-month break.
“I’ve had a lot of fun and now have a few new mates as well,” he said.
“There are plenty of younger guys in the team with way more experience than me now.”
Watters is unsure about the final number of games he has played for the club but said he had enjoyed his time.
On Saturday the Black Swans went down by 68 points to Cowra. Mudgee’s Keegan Hayes booted home four goals.
Best on ground for Mudgee were Jay Waite, Scott Bishop, Brenton Clarkson, Keegan Hayes, Gregory Parrish, and Paul Cottam.
