A workshop on Professional Education: Meaningful engagement in leisure activities for people with dementia will be held on Wednesday, September 3 from 9.30am – 4.30pm at the CWA Hall, 48A Market Street, Mudgee.
The professional workshop is suitable for leisure and lifestyle coordinators, recreation professionals, diversional therapists, day centre or respite workers and others involved in the organising and planning of recreational activities for people with dementia.
Attending may assist you in your role and will explore Montessori based activity ideas focusing on a supportive environment to build worthwhile roles and routines, planning activities and goal setting.
A workshop on Carer Education: Engaging in meaningful activities at home for family carers will be held on Thursday, September 4, from 9.30am – 12.30pm at the CWA Hall, 48A Market Street, Mudgee.
The family carer session is free and designed to assist family carers who look after someone living with dementia at home and who may need help with planning and implementing leisure activities both at home and in their community.
It will provide practical examples of activities using the principles of the Montessori method for dementia and can help you to understand some of the changes that occur when a person has dementia, how to support them, as well as where to turn to for help.
Attending also provides participants with the opportunity to meet other carers, families and friends who share a similar experience.
Refreshments will be provided. Registration is essential.
These workshops have been supported by financial assistance from the Australian Government and NSW Government.
