Four Mudgee Public School students competed via video in last week’s NSW Premier’s Spelling Bee, against 16 other schools from the state’s west.

Year 6 students Alex Sutherland and Jack Rae, and Year 4 students Aidan Hargraves and Dominic Lynn, flew the Mudgee Public colours.
Jack and Dominic both finished in second place in their respective age groups, while Alex and Aidan both did well too both making it to the fifth round of their categories.
The words that the students had to spell in the competition included; rheumatism, agoraphobia, adolescence, and violoncello (the full name of the instrument more commonly known as a cello).
