The 12-year-old won the J.B Thompson trophy for the best 36-hole handicap overall score at the Mudgee Open on the weekend.
Zelesco not just won it, he smashed it.
His nett score of 130 was more than 12 strokes better than the next player.
The Camden golfer’s handicap prior to the event was 31 and there is no doubt that has taken a significant cut following his performance on the weekend where he scored 65 nett on both days.
Mudgee golf professional Peter Mayson could not believe Zelesco’s effort, saying the youngster is going to be a “special golfer” in the future.
It was a good tournament for Dunheved golfers with James Sullivan and Dillyn Burazin winning major trophies.
Sullivan took home the Westpac Cup for winning B-grade with a score of 169 strokes.
Sullivan scored 87 and 82 on Saturday and Sunday respectively.
It was his first win in 36 years of playing in the Mudgee Open.
Mudgee’s James Hickey was in a two-way tie for second in B-grade on 173 strokes along with Thomas Moore.
The Wallacia golfer did not go empty-handed as he won the veterans trophy.
Burazin won the Pond, Bennett, Meers Cup.
The Cup is awarded to the golfer with the best handicap over 36 holes from Mudgee, Campbelltown and Dunheved Golf clubs.
