Kandos and Gulgong IGA stores were among the first in Australia to introduce the Price Match campaign on Wednesday.
Owner of Kandos IGA Plus Liquor, Ghazanfar Ahmedi, said prices will be matched on a weekly basis alongside other promotions and wide brand ranges. Price Match items will be visible through blue and yellow tickets.
“We’re pretty excited about the Price Match campaign as we know it will encourage our local customers to come in more frequently to shop, all with the knowledge that they will be getting prices that they can’t get anywhere else in town,” he said.
'You will see the Price Match across about 2000 product lines including our Black and Gold range.'
Mr Ahmedi and his team have also started updating the Kandos store with refurbishments including the doubling in size of the deli.
“Last week, a man pulled me aside to let me know he comes all the way from Mudgee to shop at our store, because the competitors are too expensive. He explained that he prefers to shop at our IGA over any other store because of the refurbishments, the service and the range we have here,” Mr Ahmedi said.
R&R SUPA IGA Plus Liquor Gulgong manager, Bill Murphy, said the Price Match campaign would see hundreds of everyday products come in line with prices seen elsewhere.
“We can now put our hand on our heart and say it is not worth wasting fuel going to Mudgee for cheaper supermarket prices,” he said.
“You will see the Price Match across about 2000 product lines including our Black and Gold range.”
In a direct response to customer feedback, IGA’s Price Match was developed by studying customer shopping habits to identify the most popular everyday products.
For example items in the Price Match this week will include short-cut bacon, Coca-Cola, Lindt Excellence chocolate blocks, Tresemme shampoo or conditioner, some cereals, selected ice-creams and frozen meals as well as Kleenex toilet paper.
Both stores also give back to the community through IGA’s Community Chest initiative, which raises funds through in-store purchases.
