And in return, Mudgee put on quite a show for them.
The X-Factor visit to Mudgee brought out a crowd that exceeded all expectations, and at short notice, the town stepped up to the mark to show itself at its best.
Despite the late arrival of the celebrities, the huge crowd was patient and good humoured, and obeyed the directions of the police.
Mid-Western Regional Council staff, Mudgee Police and the Mudgee Rescue Squad deserve congratulations for the way they directed traffic in town and along Ulan Road, and ensured that excited and often unpredictable pedestrians got to and from Parklands safely.
Drivers, many no doubt disgruntled by the unexpected interruption to what is normally a trouble-free trip, were nevertheless generally patient and courteous.
Even the police seemed to have caught the spirit of the day, posting a photo of their patrol car amidst the crowd with the words “Brothers 3 mania has hit Mudgee!!!”
The tourism industry is also beaming about the prospect of images of the town and vineyards being beamed across national television in prime time.
Brothers 3 and mentor Dannii Minogue were obviously as delighted with Mudgee’s welcome as their fans were with them.
No doubt many will be tuning in to follow the fortunes of the local hopes and to play spot-the-local face on Sunday night.
Thanks for coming, Brothers 3.
The Mudgee Guardian & The Weekly wishes you the best of luck.
