The work began a month ago today on September 22 and the greens are on schedule to be ready for play at the end of January – weather permitting.
Club Mudgee CEO Maureen Hutchison said that the upgrades will enable the club to cater for both the relocated bowlers and its social members along with events it hosts including live performances.
“The club had two redundant bowling greens and in this project one green was repositioned to enable us to continue our outdoor community events,” she said
“Plus our second green is being renovated to bring it back into professional play.
“In November the top of the second green at the Mudgee Bowling Club will be taken off, divided up and will be planted at the new greens.
“There will be seven rinks on each green, giving a total of 14, which can cater up to 112 players playing in teams of four.”
Ms Hutchison added that she is looking forward to the next phase of the club and welcoming the bowlers to what she said will be “state-of-the-art bowling greens”.
“If the weather is on our side it should be ready for the bowlers to play on at the end of January,” she said.
“Myself, the Club Mudgee board and the staff are extremely excited for the project to be completed and welcoming the bowlers here and giving them a new home.
“We have a good bowling membership and a hard working committee that brings the bowling groups and tournaments into town.
“They’ll be state-of-the-art bowling greens, we’ve got one of the best greens construction companies working on it who have been renovating the greens at the Mudgee Bowling Club site over a number of years, so we’re confident with their expertise.”
