Daniel Mattick of Denison Street, Mudgee, was charged with ‘Not keep left of median strip’, ‘Refuse or fail to submit to breath test’, ‘Refuse to comply with requirement’, two counts of ‘Resist officer in execution of duty’, and two counts of ‘Resist or hinder police officer in execution of duty’.
At about 12.10pm on Thursday, July 17, 2014, police were driving towards the intersection of Putta Bucca Road and the Castlereagh Highway, Mudgee, when they saw Mattick’s vehicle turn right into Bell Street on the incorrect side of the median strip and dividing lines.
They followed and stopped the vehicle near Gladstone Street and while there he refused to hand over his licence, submit a breath test or give any identification.
He was arrested but refused to go with police and locked the doors. However one officer reached in and unlocked it and Mattick was taken to Mudgee Police Station.
Mattick was identified there and eventually submitted a breath test which was negative for alcohol.
