Pop-up shops, also known as Pop-up Retail or Flash Retailing, is the trend of opening a store with the intention of only ever being temporary, to create a buzz and disappear again.
Ivy and Pearl is an online women’s clothing boutique started by locals Jaime Adams and Rebekah Bullock.
Rebekah said that after having a stall at markets across the region they would try a pop-up shop in Mudgee for three weeks to get some more face to face time with their customers and the short term nature allows them to be seasonal.
“We started the website because it is a second job for both of us and it’s been a really exciting adventure for us,” she said.
“But we love the face to face contact, you still need it, so we try to do both it and online.
“It’s great to meet with our customers and we’re mindful of what their casual needs are.
“[The pop-up shop] will have a focus on summer, leading into Christmas when there’s barbecue parties and the Mudgee Cup coming up as well.”
The pop-up shop was officially launched on Friday evening with Jaime and Rebekah inviting their social media customers to a fashion parade and a glass of wine.
