Roth’s Orchard opened its gates to assist Eurunderee Provisional School Incorporated raise much needed funds for its restoration efforts.
“Eurunderee Provisional School Incorporated wish to extend their warm and heartfelt thanks, firstly to Guy and Ingrid Roth for the opportunity and their generosity in allowing the EPSI to fund raise at their Cherry Orchard on Eurunderee Lane,” incorporated member, Brian Hobson said.
“Secondly, the same warm and heartfelt thanks to all the pickers who came along the last two Sundays and contributed to the buying of produce from Roth’s Orchard.
“The two Sundays were truly family affairs with hundreds of people turning up for the event including many small, and not-so-small children having a great time away from TV and computer games.”
Hundreds of kilograms of plump cherries were picked from trees with a percentage of the $5 donation fee from each family going toward EPSI.
“Guy is a descendant of the Roth family who came to Eurunderee in the mid 1850s and have been in the area ever since,” Mr Hobson said.
“Guy and Ingrid recently moved the Ulan Catholic Church onto their Eurunderee orchard and this was well used to check and pack cherries into two and five kilogram boxes, giving some people the opportunity to buy pre-packaged.
“The two Sundays were highly successful due to the hard work of the events co-ordinator Jenni Buckley and her support team of volunteers.”
