There wasn’t a spare seat in the hall as students performed poems including Teddy Bear, The Circus, My New Pet, Counting Sheep, Hairy Bear, and Mumbo Jumbo.
St Matthew’s continued their seven-year winning streak, placing first in the Infants Section after a very good rendition of Mr Somebody and Song of the Train.
Gulgong Public School’s 2L placed second for their performance of A Snake Swallowed Poor Henry and Crack and Egg, and third place was tied between Gulgong Public School KP and Mudgee Public School KM.
“Everyone was fantastic. The teachers have worked very hard to get everyone speaking in time while being clear,” adjudicator Merryl Lloyd said.
The afternoon and evening sessions continued after lunch on Tuesday at the Gulgong Opera House. Speech will continue on Wednesday, May 20 and Thursday, May 21, at the Gulgong Opera House.
