Moylan will line up for Easts at Number 8, ironically, against his father Tony’s former team the Two Blues of Parramatta.
Tony said he spoke to his son soon after he got the good news this week and says he feels ready to become a part of the next generation of first grade stars for the proud club.
“He’s had a couple of runs from the bench in first grade because he’s just come out of Colts,” Tony said.
“He played two years in the Colts so he’s been in the club a little while now.
“I spoke to him last night (Wednesday) and he’s on top of the world after he found out that he’ll be running on this weekend.
“He’s only 21 in August, so to be making his run-on start at that sort of age is really good.”
“He also wants to go overseas and play in England with a club side, that’s also on his radar.”
Easts are struggling this season as they ushering in generation next, with just one win from their nine games to date.
They will be looking to rebound against Parramatta, after being downed by Warringah 22-8 last round.
“They’re sort of making a team, not around him, but he is just one of a few younger guys coming through they are managing,” Tony said.
“Hence why they are not doing overly well this year, but they have a good reputation and they have a strong connection with the country.
“There are a lot of country boys like Liam down there who are down there trying to do the same thing he’s doing.”
The younger Moylan is still aiming high in his rugby career as he sets his sights on being full-time to play the game he has loved since running around in the colours of the Wombats.
“It’s all about a resume apparently now. So if he gets this, playing as a starter in the Shute Shield, that is one-step because it’s arguably one of the best comps in Australia.
“The coach of Easts is Darren Coleman and he’s the coach of the Eagles. So Liam has contact with him every day and Liam helped out with the (Country) Eagles side last year, just doing opposed line-outs and other training drills.
“He also wants to go overseas and play in England with a club side, that’s also on his radar.”
