Last week I attended an amazing exhibition of Aboriginal art at the Mudgee Library, and on that occasion again, I couldn't help but think there is a need for a Regional Gallery in Mudgee.
Already Council house considerable works of well known artists, and local philanthropist, Gora Singh Mann has indicated a loan of his massive collection.
He in fact has donated art work to Council.
I just wonder where it could be housed?
Is it possible the old Cudgegong Chambers building on the corner of Douro and Market Streets is a possible contender?
After all it is a State Government building and has plenty of excess room.
Don't dismiss it because its on two levels!
Remember the swap we did for land with NSW Police some years ago?
That was a win win situation for the town wasn't it!
Has anyone spoken to the State Minister for the Arts, who just happens to be our local member?
