“Wrap With Love” was founded by Sonia-Gidley King in 1992 to produce knitted wraps as gifts for people who are exposed to the cold.
More than 30,000 volunteers across Australia have knitted and assembled squares to produce more than a quarter of a million woollen wraps.
In 2014, “Wrap With Love” distributed 25,695 wraps, of which 2946 were given out in Australia.
The rest went to people in need in other countries.
In May this year, 1000 wraps were sent to Nepal.
The wraps are made of 28 equally sized squares (10 inch by 10inch) in garter stitch. Patterns for squares are available at the Mudgee Library.
Knitters are invited to come to the Mudgee Library between noon and 4pm on Tuesday, August 4.
Bring your completed squares of sit and knit a square.
Donations of yarn would be gratefully received.
“Knitting squares for “Wrap With Love” can be a year-round activity,” Mudgee co-ordinator Barbara Gow said.
“There is always a need for warmth and comfort somewhere in the world."
