Ross Edward Gillan, aged 32, of Church Street, Mudgee, was charged with two counts of ‘Stalk/intimidate intend fear physical etc harm’, ‘Common assault’, ‘Destroy or damage property’, and ‘Use offensive weapon with intent to commit indictable offence’.
He was granted bail and the matter was adjourned until Wednesday, September 9, 2015.
At about 5pm on Wednesday, (August 26) two NSW ambulance officers attended a home in Church Street after they received a call to assist a man with medical issues.
Upon arrival the officers were invited into the home.
It’s alleged that while treating Gillan he became hostile and threatened to assault the officers.
He yelled threats and offensive words at the officers and began pushing them using the weight of his whole body as they were backing out the door of the home.
The incident continued as they retreated to their vehicle.
Once the officers were inside the ambulance Gillan allegedly began punching the bonnet causing dints in the bonnet of the ambulance.
And as the officers reversed the ambulance down the driveway he punched the spot lights causing them to break, ripped the emergency lighting from the front of the vehicle and punched the driver side mirror of the vehicle.
He continued to follow the ambulance vehicle as it reversed out of the driveway and onto the street before throwing a pot plant and two water meter covers at the vehicle causing further damage.
Police arrived a short time later and Gillan was placed under arrest and taken to Mudgee Police Station where he was charged.
The damage to the ambulance is estimated to cost thousands of dollars to repair.
