After their premiership win in 2014, the Swans were unable to muster numbers to compete in 2015 and sat out the season.
Their return will boost the Castlereagh competition to a record nine teams.
The Baradine Magpies will return to the competition after being in recess for a number of years, and they will be joined by the Warren Bulldogs as well as Dunedoo.
The other clubs will be the Gulgong Bull Terriers, Trangie Magpies, Gilgandra Panthers, Coonamble Bears, Coonabarabran Unicorns and Coolah Roos.
Dunedoo Swans vice-president Matt Guan said although the club are still looking for numbers, they are confident of fielding teams in both the senior rugby league and league tag competitions.
Guan said the Swans are hopeful that the 2016 team will include some of the players from its premiership winning side.
Former Swans player Matt Court will coach the Dunedoo side with the assistance of Mark Stanford.
Guan said the Swans were in a positive mood as they prepare for their first training session this Friday night.
Dunedoo’s league tag side, which finished third in the 2015 competition and narrowly missed a place in the finals, is looking forward to the return of the senior side, he said.
All clubs, except Warren will field League Tag teams this year.
The first official outing for all the teams will be the Bendigo Bank Castlereagh League knock out to be held at Coonamble on Saturday, April 2.
The first competition round will be played on Saturday 9 when Gulgong will play Coonabarabran in Coonabarabran and Dunedoo will play Gilgandra in Gilgandra.
Joe Bellgardt from Coonamble is again the president of the group with newly elected Castlereagh League Life Member, Bryson Luff (Gilgandra), continuing as secretary, treasurer and publicity officer.
A Castlereagh League meeting on Sunday saw Luke Phillips appointed as coach of the BBCL representative rugby league team with Jessica Skinner taking charge of the BBCL league tag representative team.
People interested in playing for the Dunedoo Swans, or members of the public who want to meet the 2016 teams, are welcome to attend the post-training barbecue at Robinson Oval at 6.30pm this Friday.
