Lawson Park Country demolished Lawson Park Reserves by 127 runs on Saturday in the derby played as a day/night match at Victoria Park.
Opener Rod Moore tore out of the blocks for Country making 50 runs and sending eight balls for the covers for four in the process, before being bowled out by Brandon Roth.
Fellow opener Tim Hancock only put four on the board and number-three Alistair Barrett contributed a quick 12 runs.
But it was Will Suttor who stole the show, posting the match high of 54 from a combination of boundaries, quick running between the wickets and a swag full of singles.
He would eventually fall caught and bowled off of Roth, by the time of his departure Country were well on their way at 158.
Another highlight of the innings was Michael Dowell’s 32 before he was caught by Killeen off the bowling of Sahyoon.
While he was the last of the big contributors there were no ducks among Country’s batsmen when they finished for a total of 207.
It was a tough day for the Reserves bowlers, Roth was valiant though bowling out his 10 overs and finishing with figures of 3/51.
Two of his scalps were the two prized Country two half-century makers – Suttor and Moore – and despite the pummelling the bowlers took he actually managed to claim a maiden.
Sayhyoon and D Edwards were both tidy and fairly handy taking 2/19 and 2/20 respectively, but none of their bowlers got off too lightly.
Reserves’ day/night got worse with the bat and their match was done for just 80 in reply inside of 30 overs.
Top scorer was Edwards with 35, but the side struggled to scrape into double figures each.
Country were merciless with the ball, Joel Robinson finished with his side’s best figures of 3/11 with one maiden, closely followed by Dowell with 3/14 although he took two run-less overs.
Tim Suttor also took a wicket for 20 runs.
While top scorer with the bat, Will Suttor, proved he was no slouch with the ball when he took three maidens from his five overs and while he didn’t claim a scalp he only expended seven runs.
